Selena Gomez is sexy and sultry in her ‘Good for You’ music video for the new single which features rapper A$AP Rocky. The pop music superstar is getting a buzz in social media as she reveals a previously unseen side of her musical persona.

Selena Gomez

Yes, Selena Gomez continues her transition to full-fledged grown up pop music superstar with this sultry new single and steamy video accompanying it. The days of her starring on ‘Wizards of Waverly Place’ of the Disney Channel are far beyond. For that matter, so too are her days of dating Justin Bieber also in that increasingly distant past.

For anyone who had doubts, it’s clear that she is staking even more claim in the new territory with ‘Good for You.’ The new clip is directed by famed director Sophie Muller who has worked with the likes of Beyoncé and Rihanna. And indeed, Selena Gomez is rapidly joining the ranks of such influential pop music superstar.

It’s not just that she wears very little clothing — and at one point is even seen in a wet T-shirt, and later in the shower — but the clip lacks a narrative other than the singer wearing very little and doing very little other than making a few come hither gestures. Yes, it has gone viral for that reason alone. It’s just the opposite of the recent spate of high-production cinematic music videos with multiple guest stars — Taylor Swift’s ‘Bad Blood’ and Madonna’s ‘Bitch, I’m Madonna’ videos, of course come to mind.

And that’s just the intent, according to the singer herself. She said in a statement, “I wanted the video to reflect the initial stripped down version of ‘Good for You. Sophie Muller created a beautiful and intimate visual representation of the song.”

It’s a new side that we’re seeing and this is just the beginning, as she’s got an album, as yet untitled, on the way, of which this is just the lead single!
