Tori Kelly was interviewed on GMA and delivered a crowd-pleasing acoustic performance of her hit single ‘Should’ve Been Us’ and she premiered the song’s official music video coinciding with the release of her critically acclaimed debut album, ‘Unbroken Smile.’
In just a very short time Tori Kelly has risen through the range of emerging pop music stars with some breakthrough hits — ‘?Dear No One’ and ‘Nobody Love’ in particular — that reveal the sheer strength of her songwriting power and her captivating vocals.
But it has been a long time in the making; she was once on American Idol at age 16 and cut before making the top 24. From there she devoted herself to songwriting while becoming yet another hopeful YouTube viral video star. That is until she was discovered by Scooter Braun, who also discovered Justin Bieber in the very same manner.
As we say, the rest is history. Now in celebration of the much heralded new album, ‘Unbreakable Smile’ she made an appearance on Good Morning America.
As GMA co-anchor Robin Roberts introduced Tori Kelly, she described her music “as a marriage of urban soul and pop” and the singer herself readily agreed. She said, “It’s really everything I grew up listening to. And I’m excited just because I put so much into myself into these songs. People get to hear it.”
Contemplating her rise to fame after many years of obscurity, she said, “I think it’s exciting, too, because of the type of fans that I have. We all feel like we’re on this journey together. It’s not an overnight thing. We’ve all been through it.”
Tori Kelly delivered a stripped-down acoustic performance of the song ‘Should’ve Been Us,’ accompanying herself on guitar not unlike a bustler on the New York City streets. But she just so happened to have a small and enthusiastic audience at the GMA Times Square Studios, not to mention live television coverage and now, a video (below) that’s gone viral.
And, as noted, on the very same day, Tori Kelly’s ‘Should’ve Been Us’ music video had its premiere on VEVO. Watch all of the videos below!
