Kelly Clarkson has premiered her ‘Invincible’ music video and it’s a powerful visual testament to female empowerment that’s causing quite a stir on social media. The music superstar gives hope and encouragement to women in a memorable visual narrative.
The 33-year-old Kelly Clarkson has delivered yet another inspiring and empowering anthem. It was written by hitmaker songwriter and music artist Sia who has penned numerous hit songs for many artists, from Rihanna’s ‘Diamonds’ to her own ‘Chandelier.’ It’s the second single from her latest album, ‘Piece by Piece.’
The message is beautifully summed up in the title, ‘Invincible’ and now the much-anticipated music video proves itself equally empowering with memorable visuals.
As the video begins we see Kelly Clarkson all alone in a gigantic warehouse-like space, clad in a long, black fringed gown as she sings the powerful lyrics. We soon see a variety of women of all ages, sizes, shapes and colors in various settings who are equality ecstatic as she sings the chorus, “Now I am invincible / No, I ain’t a scared little girl no more.”
Clarkson herself announced the premiere with an enthusiastic Tweet, referencing some of the powerful lyrics: “Y’all check out the new video for #Invincible on @VEVO! #Warrior #ShootingStar.”
The song and its music video have arrived at just the right time and in just the right context, unfortunate as that context is. Kelly Clarkson, who has returned to the music world after taking time off to give birth to her first child, a daughter, has returned to the same old bullying and fat shaming that has plagued her throughout her years in the public spotlight going all the way back to the inaugural season of American Idol where she, as winner, launched her stellar career.
It’s a powerful message, in song lyrics, soaring melody showcasing her powerful voice, and now, with memorable visuals to match. And even as we now have the official music video we can expect that we’ll see fan made videos going viral, celebrating this urgent and much needed message of self-acceptance.
