Kristen Stewart graces the cover of Harper’s Bazaar UK and opens up about ‘Twighlight Saga,’ fame, sexism in Hollywood, her weight fluctuations and many other topics. She also dons Chanel for an alluring photo shoot.
The 25-year-old Kristen Stewart is among the stars of the much anticipated movie, ‘Clouds of Sils Maria.’ She has had starring roles in a variety of movies from ‘Camp X-Ray’ to ‘American Ultra’ in the years since she graced the screen as Bella Swan in the ‘The Twilight Saga’ franchise that made her a global star.
Not surprisingly, she has strong views on fame. She told Harper’s Bazaar UK, “Fame is the worst thing in the world. Especially if it’s pointless. When people say. “I want to be famous” – why? You don’t do anything.'”
And not surprisingly, she has received some backlash as some take issue with fame being the worst thing that could happen to a person in life. Yes, it’s also not a surprising that she would deliver such hyperbole having experienced some of the worst that fame can bring, when her affair with ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’ director Rupert Sanders was made public and she underwent much public shaming. That is the down side of fame, although, the naysayers would quickly note that she brought it on herself.
She has, on the other hand, won accolades for being the latest actress to denounce the rampant sexism in the entertainment industry. She said, “‘Women inevitably have to work a little bit harder to be heard. Hollywood is disgustingly sexist. It’s crazy. It’s so offensive it’s crazy.”
She also opened up about her weight, and, while not sharing actual numbers on the scale, she said, “I’m a little bigger than sample size when I’m eating cheeseburgers and am happy and comfortable. If I’m stressed or working, the weight falls off.”
She continued, saying, “My weight and my sleep are tied to my nervous system. Sometimes I’ll sleep for 12 hours a night and sometimes sleep just doesn’t exist for me for a couple of months.”
As for ‘The Twilight Saga,’ she spoke of it in the context of speaking of sex scenes in movies. She reminisced about a scene for the franchise, with co-star and former boyfriend Robert Pattinson, “On Twilight we had to do the most epic sex scene of all time. It had to be transcendent and otherworldly, inhuman, better sex than you can possibly ever imagine.” She went on to say, “We were like, “How do we live up to that? It was agony. Which sucks, because I wanted it to be so good.”
She mused about such scenes in general and the choices other actresses have made, in saying, “‘I just even question when a fairly established actress finally does a scene on a movie when she shows her boobs and she hasn’t done it up until this moment, and maybe she only did it for the prestigious part and it’s OK for this time because it’s classy, and I’m like, “Oh God, thank you for revealing to the world your treasure.”‘
The outspoken star is, as noted, among the cast of ‘Clouds of Sils Maria,’ with Juliette Binoche and Chloë Grace Moretz. The drama and has received nearly universal critical acclaim and she has been singled out in particular for delivering a noteworthy performance. It’s clear that critics and moviegoers are beginning to see an actress with a range and a career that has long since put Bella Swan aside even as magazines still demand the ‘Twilight Saga’ quotes.
