Mariah Carey ‘Infinity’ Lyric Video: New Song from “#1 to Infinity” Album

April 27, 2015

The lyric video of ‘Infinity,’ Mariah Carey’s new song has had its premiere. It’s from the superstar pop diva’s compilation album, ‘#1 to Infinity’ which coincides with the start of her two-year Las Vegas residency.

The new song has been greeted with much fanfare and attention, as it is the only new music from the “#1 to Infinity” album which is a collection of 18 of her No. 1 hit singles including the likes of “Hero,” “Emotions,” “Always Be My Baby” and many of her other classics.

It’s not every artist who can claim 18 chart toppers, but then again, for four decades, Mariah Carey has been making music history. Now she joins the ranks of legendary artists who have had a Las Vegas residency. Hers is set to kick off in May at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace.

But there’s much more of a backstory than hit singles and pivotal moments in an artist’s career. Mariah Carey has also been in the midst of a high profile split with husband Nick Cannon, the father of her four-year-old twins, Monroe and Moroccan.

And the ironically-titled song, ‘Infinity’ is clearly a breakup anthem, with such lyrics as, “Could it be that you just lost the best you’ve ever had” she sings from a vantage point of freedom, not sorrow. It’s not one of those aching, sobbing, how can I go on without you kind of songs. As for the vows of forever and till death do us part, that’s noted with a terse couplet, “I was yours eternally / There’s an end to infinity.”

Catchy and radio friendly, it might indeed become one of our summer hits, as the superstar herself embarks on her first-ever Las Vegas residency.

The new album is due out May 18th, and is her third compilation album. Her most recent album of new music, “Me. I Am Mariah …The Elusive Chanteuse” was released last May. It was much anticipated as it was her first album since 2009’s Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel.
