The 39-year-old Kate Winslet reprises her villainous role in ‘Insurgent,’ the sequel to ‘Divergent’ and second installment of the franchise based on Veronica Roth’s bestselling YA dystopian novel trilogy. She along with the star of the movie, Shailene Woodley are gracing many a magazine cover, and both share in common a fondness for candor.

Winslet spoke with InStyle about how she has come to accept her body despite the detractors and those who would attempt to body shame her. She said, ” ‘I still dip in and out of feeling confident as much as the next person, but I can genuinely say, now more than ever, that I really do love the fact that I’m curvy. I’ve got boobs and a bum and a man who loves me.”

That would be her third and current husband, Ned Rocknroll whom she famously met during the fire at his uncle, Richard Branson’s estate in the British Virgin Islands. The two survived the fire and fell in love.

While she may have acceptance at home, she admitted that being in the public eye is not without its pitfalls. It has been 20 years or so, including her rise to international fame in ‘Titanic’ alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in those long-ago pre-social media days of the 1990s.

But much has changed these days, and she acknowledged it, saying, ‘When you go through the sort of scrutiny that I have, you have to choose a means of dealing with that level of judgment.” She continued, saying, “My way has always been to take a good look at how my career is going. The way I see it, I have an incredibly fulfilling, rewarding career that has nothing to do with the size of my arse.”

Kate Winslet was equally candid on the topic of aging. At 39 she is about to hit that milestone 40th birthday. Yes, that one that some still see as falling into the precipice of old age, at least for actresses in Hollywood. The 40s and 50s on up, one’s face is scrutinized and if it seems “different” one is talked about. On the other hand, if crow’s feet and laugh lines become visible, one is talked about for that.

Winslet said of herself, “The wrinkles are here and they’re here to stay.” She went on to say, “Look, I take care of my skin. I have regular facials. But, let’s face it, there are only so many facials one can have.”

She spoke of family life. Along with her young son, Bear Blaze with her current husband, she is also the mother to two other children, a son and a daughter; 14-year-old Mia and 11-year-old Joe. She had high praise of her husband as father and step-father, saying, “”Ned is really the most fantastic, hands-on daddy. He’s like a superman. And that makes such a difference.”
