George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin: Wedding in Venice, Italy; Details Revealed!

George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin are now husband and wife! The couple were married in a star-studded wedding ceremony Venice and now the details of romantic nuptials are emerging. Here’s a roundup of what the world at large now knows of this highly anticipated ceremony.

As People magazine, and numerous other celebrity news outlets confirm, via the couple’s rep, they were wed at the Aman Canal Grande luxury resort in Venice, Italy on Saturday, September 27th.

And with that simple confirmation, it is the end of an era. The bachelorhood of the 53-year-old George Clooney is over.

It marks his second trip down the aisle for George Clooney and indeed the one that he himself vowed he would never make. His former wife is Talia Balsam; the couple were married in 1989 and got divorced in 1993.

While untold numbers of hopeful women throughout the world live now with dashed hopes and there is one very happy bride, one Amal Alamuddin, already a formidable public figure in her own right, as a prominent lawyer specializing in international law. Now the 36-year-old British-Lebanese attorney is a celebrity as the new wife of the Hollywood heavyweight.

The ceremony was officiated by Walter Veltroni, formerly the mayor of Rome. Among the attendees were both of George Clooney’s parents, George and Nina Clooney as well as Amal Alamuddin’s parents Ramzi and Baria Alamuddin.

As for celebrity attendees it’s being reported that include Bono, John Krasinski, Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, Bill Murry, Cindy Crawford, Anna Wintour, Rande Gerber and others.

While the ceremony was private, gathering crowds and paparazzi got a glimpse of the groom and the wedding party as they were transported by water taxi in the canals of Venice. You can see pictures here. Video is below.

But that’s just the beginning; it’s a full weekend of celebrations, with a second wedding ceremony scheduled to take place on Monday. Details on Amal Alamuddin’s wedding gown have yet to emerge. Check back for updates!
