Here’s the first trailer for ‘Serena’ a Depression era drama which reunites Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper on screen for the third time. It’s the first glimpse of the highly anticipated movie with the stars who were so luminous in David O. Russell’s ‘American Hustle’ and ‘Silver Linings Playbook.’

It’s the first glimpse of the highly anticipated movie directed by Oscar-winning director Susanne Bier. ‘Serena’ is based on the based on Ron Rash’s bestselling novel of the same title. It sees the two Oscar-winning stars in portraying a married couple, — respectively Serena (Shaw) Pemberton, the title character, and George Pemberton. They are intensely in love and, as partners, are building a timber empire in 1930s North Carolina. From the trailer alone, it’s evident that the Jennifer Lawrence-Bradley Cooper chemistry that mesmerized moviegoers in their previous pairings is unabated.

And too as is often the case, the trailer reveals many of the plot details. Happy though the Pembertons may be with each other, the relationship begins to go awry over the wife’s infertility. When a timber empire is at stake and there are perhaps no heirs in the future, it intensifies what would already have been the painful dilemma of a childless couple.

Now enter an illegitimate child, which Pemberton fathered before the marriage, along with what seems to be Mafia-like murder and intrigue and you have a gripping two minutes telescoping much of the movie. But it’s gorgeous to look at, with exquisite period details and the beautiful landscape as a backdrop.

‘Serena’ will have its world premiere at The London Film Festival and open in October in the UK. Reportedly it will have a November release in the U.S. And, for now, the trailer video is below.
