Kate Upton graces the cover of ELLE UK magazine and opens up about her famously curvy figure revealing that she “begged” for the body that she has and is undaunted by how others may perceive her curvaceousness.
Kate Upton became a household name and highly sought after she graced the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue and in the years since, as she has parlayed the success as a model towards acting in such movies as ‘The Other Woman,’ she has remained for many a modern day sex symbol.
She spoke candidly about her body in the ELLE magazine cover story interview, and in so doing reflected upon how she went from obscurity to the aforesaid fame.
She said, “When I first started modelling, I was a normal catalogue model. Then, I became a woman, and I was really excited about becoming a woman. Because I’m from Florida, it’s all about being in bathing suits.”
She went on to elaborate and said, “It’s a different view of beauty there. You are ugly if you don’t have a curvy body. And I didn’t have one, and then I got one, and thought, ‘Yessss!’”
In speaking out, she was setting the record straight. There has been some confusion as of late as to how Kate Upton sees herself, especially after some false quotes attributed to her suggesting she wanted breast reduction surgery.
She did make note of the terminology that has been applied to her, “And then people say: ‘Oh, wow, you’re healthy,’” Not taking it as an insult or a euphemism she explained, “And you’re like, ‘Wait – what? I’ve been begging for this body my whole life!”
But that did not prepare her for the rather unique Sports Illustrated swimsuit kind of attention. She said of it, ““After my first Sports Illustrated cover, I felt terrible about myself for a solid month.”
She explained, “Every single guy I met was either married or about to be married, and I felt like I was their bachelor present or something … I’m not a toy, I’m a human, I’m not here to be used. I am a grown woman, and you need to figure your s–t out.”
