Leonardo DiCaprio Crashes Jonah Hill’s SNL Monologue (Video)

January 26, 2014

Jonah Hill, a costar of ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ hosted SNL for the third time. As he began his monologue, he found himself fielding questions about costar Leonardo DiCaprio which led to the inevitable, DiCaprio himself showing up on stage. Hilarity ensued!

It began as just a “normal” Saturday Night Live monologue if there is such a thing, with Jonah Hill, who’s been nominated for a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his role in Martin Scorsese’s ‘The Wolf of Wall Street.’ But Hill, eager to talk about his own success and how he landed the role in the movie found himself suddenly in a Q&A session and, of course all the questions were about Leonardo DiCaprio and of the superficial “movie star” variety. What’s his hair like? And so on.

Undaunted, he continued to talk about himself, and then to descend into trash talking. He said, “You want to know the truth? “Leo wasn’t even supposed to be in the movie!” He went on to say Martin Scorsese agreed DiCaprio could get an audience, but that he had told him, “We need a real actor like you.”

Enter Leonardo DiCaprio to wild applause from the audience. He says to his ‘Wolf of Wall Street’ costar, “I have a question. What the hell are you doing?”

Jonah Hill then tries to save face, “I was hyping you up…this guy taught me everything…He’s a role model and has the looks of a model.”

But of course, as DiCaprio tells him he was backstage the whole time, finally Hill admits, “I was being a big shot.”

DiCaprio admonishes, saying, “You’re a real actor now. You should be humble. You should be gracious.”

The deeply apologetic Jonah Hill says, “Can we do the thing that makes me feel less nervous?”

“That thing turns” out to be a reenactment of the iconic flying scene from James Cameron’s “Titanic.”

And thus Leonardo DiCaprio becomes his character Jack Dawson from the movie, as Jonah Hill takes on the Kate Winslet role of Rose!

And thus we had what’s sure to be a classic moment in SNL history. It came as a surprise, going against expectation. Whether we thought Leonardo DiCaprio might show up or not, would he have imagined that instead of going for the comedic possibilities of ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ with all of its controversial three hours of decadence and a record 500+ F-bombs, instead we get a tender scene from ‘Titanic!’
