We merely glimpsed her in the teaser trailer. Now in this new preview, Angelina Jolie is a full-fledged terror of a villain as the title character of ‘Maleficent’ in Disney’s live-action follow-up to the classic animated tale ‘Sleeping Beauty.’

After months of hype and expectation, Angelina Jolie sends chills in this new sneak peek of the highly anticipated movie which chronicles the story of Maleficent, the self-described Mistress of All Evil of the 1959 iconic Disney ‘Sleeping Beauty’ whose every angry whim brought forth catastrophe.

The new trailer interweaves footage from the original movie with the live action scenes we can soon expect to see in full. The juxtaposition is jarring as it is from these scenes of innocence that Angelina Jolie’s Maleficent emerges, at the castle, approaching the king’s throne as she says in a husky voice, “I too shall bestow on gift for the child” as she is surrounded by an eerie green glow — having rendered the entire castle into an ashen dark shadow of itself.

These glimpses makes us yearn to see more of Angelina Jolie’s Maleficent. But yet, we must know her roots. What led to such chilling malevolence?

The trailer incorporates some of the earlier teaser clip in that we see Maleficent hiding from Elle Fanning’s Princess Aurora, even as she beckons her to come out. A husky voice is heard uttering what’s sure to become an iconic movie line: “Then you’ll be afraid.”

Robert Stromberg makes his directorial debut with the new movie; he is already renown for his visionary production design on ‘Avatar’ and ‘Alice in Wonderland’ among other films and in these scenes unveiled thus far, we are, yet again drawn into a fantasy nightmare never before seen, but no less terrifying and real. And of course, there is much anticipation over Angelina Jolie’s villainous turn.

‘Maleficent’ opens in theaters at the start of the summer movie season, on May 30, 2014. It may indeed become a blockbuster. The trailer is below!
