Lady Gaga took to Twitter to respond to rumors and tabloid stories about her. Fat? Madonna imitator? Hermaphrodite? Right before ‘Do What U Want,’ her duet with R. Kelly, was released to iTunes Lady Gaga sent out Tweet after Tweet. Find out what she had to say!

The 27-year-old pop music superstar caused quite a frenzy on Twitter, and no doubt drew attention to the aforementioned new song ‘Do What U Want,’ with R&B icon R. Kelly. It’s that same song whose single cover art — a photo of her derriere in a thong, her long blond tresses cascading down her back — had already stirred reaction.

Complete with some of the “fat” pictures and other unflattering shots, @ladygaga Tweeted out several of the headlines about her to her 40+ million followers.

As noted, she Tweeted just before her ‘Do What U Want’ song was to debut at midnight on iTunes. The hashtags are lyrics from the song which would seem to dash the hopes of the most naive who might have thought her Twitter rant was mere coincidence.

Lady Gaga may have felt motivated to step up the PR campaign as the date and time of her song release on iTunes coincided with that of two other music superstars, both with Twitter followers into the tens of millions. Also out at the strike of midnight was Justin Bieber’s ‘Hold Tight” — the latest of his Music Mondays new song releases — and Taylor Swift’s ‘Sweeter than Fiction,’ for the soundtrack of the Paul Potts biopic ‘One Chance.’

Lady Gaga’s collaboration with R. Kelly was released on schedule, and it is the first of weekly Monday releases leading up to the release of her new album, ‘ARTPOP,’ on November 11th. Along with the hashtag lyrics, listeners will also find R. Kelly’s lines, including “I could be the drink in your cup / I could be the green in your blunt … You’re Marilyn, I’m the president / I love to hear you sing, girl…”

A winner? It’s got a catchy electro-infused vibe, and is more than a bit of an ’80s throwback. You can hear the much-anticipated song ‘Do What U Want’ in its entirety below!
