The first trailer for “Charlie Country” has arrived. Watch as Shia LaBeouf and Evan Rachel Wood portray characters who are irresistibly drawn through mutual attraction into a twisted tale of love and destruction.

Director Fredrik Bond makes his feature film directorial debut in the romantic comedy-action thriller which was written by Matt Drake and originally titled, “The Necessary Death Of Charlie Countryman.”

Shia LaBeouf portrays the title character who meets a Romanian woman, Gabi Banyai, portrayed by Evan Rachel Wood. It is the death of Gabi’s father on a plane as he sat beside Charlie Countryman that initially brought the two of them together. In the midst of the trying circumstances they are passionately drawn to each other.

But Gabi has a jealous, violent husband, Nigel — portrayed by Mads Mikkelsen — who is a mobster in the Romanian underworld, which, as seen in the trailer is hallucinogenic, film-noir world of endless drug parties held in murky rooms. Their love is not just forbidden but also life-threatening. The trailer reveals fast-paced scenes of chases and pursuits, as well as the chemistry between the costars.

Rupert Grint has a costarring role as Carl and Melissa Leo portrays Charlie’s mother. Rounding out the cast are costars James Buckley, Til Schweiger, and Vincent D’Onofrio.

Shia LeBeouf’s portrayal of Charlie Countryman has a fascinating back story which made headlines a year ago. He said in an interview that he had dropped acid so as to enhance the emotional intensity of his performance of the doomed character. He said he was taking his cue for this kind of realism in acting from Sean Penn whom he said had been strapped in an electric chair for “Dead Man Walking.”

The movie had its world premiere at Sundance Film Festival. It opens in theaters on November 8, 2013. Watch the first trailer below!
