Lindsay Lohan is just so overrated at this point. The only reason we keep up with her is because it’s like a train wreck, you can’t stop. Will she go to jail? Will she crash another car? Lie to cops? Steal something? Hit someone? Maybe another round of rehab…
In case you don’t know the deal, at the Golden Globes, the uber talented and professional Jennifer Lawrence beat Meryl Streep. She was obviously floored and did not prepare a speech. I mean first of all, who has the balls to think they are going to win over Meryl Streep? She explained on David Letterman:
“It’s never a good idea for me to wing it, but it was a quote from First Wives Club!” Lawrence said. “Bette Midler was talking about a Globe — I can’t believe nobody has ever done it before — where she says, ‘Look what it says, it says I beat Meryl.'”
“It was so perfect, and I said it,” she explained of the 1996 film starring Midler, Diane Keaton and Goldie Hawn. (In The First Wives Club movie scene that Lawrence was quoting, Midler goes into Hawn’s apartment, picks up the award and says, ‘Look what it says! It says, I beat Meryl.'”) “I had no idea that Lindsay Lohan would take it to the Twitterverse, is that what they call it? I’m not on Twitter, but Twitter is very upset.”
Apparently Lindsay, who was not at the Golden Globes, but sitting on her couch Tweeting about it like a weirdo, said:
“No one should ever mess with a legend, such as Meryl Streep”
Oh honey, you weren’t invited. Go back to your chasing One Direction around. Clearly she is not that big of a Meryl fan. Anyway, Jennifer talked it out on David Letterman clearing things up.
“First of all, it’s Meryl Streep. You can’t offend Meryl Streep,” Lawrence argued to David Letterman. “And then all of the sudden I hate Meryl Streep. Is that what this turned into? I don’t like Meryl Streep? As if I had my eyes on getting that girl forever and I was like, ‘Finally! I knew it would happen one day!'”
“What about the dopes that don’t get the joke?” Letterman asked.
“I wanted to make a public statement and say, ‘Hey idiots. It’s a quote from a movie,'” Lawrence joked. “‘And it’s Meryl Streep.'”
Jennifer also once referenced “Mean Girls” during her 2013 People’s Choice Awards acceptance speech:
“I wish this was like Mean Girls and I could just break this up and throw it on all of you.” In the 2004 film, Lohan’s character receives a crown after winning Spring Fling Queen and breaks. Hmmm, no comments about that. Clearly Jennifer knows her stuff and isn’t messing with anyone – just showing she too is a fan, despite being talented herself.
Poor Lindsay its been a while since we’ve seen her in a good light….
