Mary-Kate Olsen in You Magazine – June 2007

Mary-Kate Olsen’s photo shoot in You magazine for June is so adorable! Mary-Kate traded her trademark black gloom and doom look for a sweeter and cheerier looking white ensemble.

In the interview with the magazine, Mary-Kate talks about her homes in New York and L.A., being a business owner since age 6 and her sense of style (I’d call it lack thereof).

I feel so ordinary now.

What inspires your style?

Movies and photography from the 60s and 70s, and not just for my wardrobe – my homes in LA and New York are designed with those eras in mind.

Do you think about being a trendsetter when you get dressed?

It’s nice to be recognized for my fashion, but I don’t consider myself a trendsetter. I just try to have fun with fashion and dress to fit my mood.

How involved are you in the running of the Mary-Kate and Ashley business?

I was six years old when our company Dualstar was created. Now I go to the office every week, attend staff meetings and I’m always on the phone dealing with work matters. I’m a perfectionist and I enjoy the creative things and the details, whereas Ashley tends to think more in terms of the ‘bigger picture’. We are great business partners, as we balance each other out.
