Tennis superstar Maria Sharapova has called off her engagement to Sasha Vujacic. She revealed the news on Friday at the US Open and that isn’t even the most surprising part.
Maria shared the news that she had her basketball player beau have decided to go their separate ways. Not only that but the two of them apparently called it quits back in the spring and she has just been waiting for someone to ask her what was going on. I can’t believe she was able to keep it a secret for so many months.
Here is what the blonde beauty had to say about the break up, which according to the Russian beauty was not an easy decision for either one of them.
“It’s been since the end of spring. I was waiting for someone to actually ask me that question. It was a really nice period of time for both of us, but our career schedules just made it extremely difficult to see each other with the traveling. We have a tremendous amount of respect for each other. I still would love to call him a friend. We spent really great years together.â€
At least it seems like it was a friendly and mutual split or it could be that is the impression that they both want to portray to the public. I know it is cynical but I am just sayin it is possible. Sharapova and Vujacic became engaged in 2010 when he popped the question with some serious bling, like $250,000 worth reportedly.
One thing is for sure 25-year old Maria probably won’t be single very long. With her killer good looks she will have guys lining up down the street to date her, plus she rocks on the court. Another celebrity couple bites the dust again but here is hoping that both of them find the happiness they deserve.
