Actor Henry Cavill of both ‘Tudors’ fame and the ‘Man of Steel’ has split from his fiancé, professional horse jumper Ellen Whitaker, after a three year relationship. The news of their break up has yet to be confirmed by the couple or their reps but was disclosed by a close friend of Whitaker’s who reportedly informed the Daily Mail. “They just weren’t getting on”.
Cavill’s recent response to a question about their engagement during the Olympics in London may have also been an indication of the duo’s rocky relationship. “I’ll talk about that another time. This summer I am taking time off and relaxing.”
The couple have been engaged since May of 2011 when the actor popped the question at his birthday party. “I couldn’t believe it when he asked me to marry him,” Whitaker shared at that time after saying “yes” to the 29-year old star. “I thought we were there to celebrate his birthday. It was such a surprise and I am so happy.”
Cavill and Whitaker have been maintaining a long distance relationship since the actor’s fiancé moved to Newcastle with her best friend (according to reports) to pursue her career and take care of her horses. Cavill meanwhile has been busy working on the Zach Snyder directed ‘Superman’ flick and is also a top pick for the lead role in the Fifty Shades of Grey adaption. He is also attached to star in the 2013 movie “The Great Wall” from director Edward Zwick that centers on the mystery of the Great Wall of China.
The couple first met back in 2009 at the Olympia International Horse Show. Tell us what you think of Cavill becoming Hollywood’s newest bachelor below.
