Jessica Simpson’s father Joe was arrested for suspicion of DUI last week, but somehow it didn’t hit the news until today. I have a few theories about that…
First the facts. Joe was allegedly driving down Ventura BLVD back on August 4th when he was stopped by law enforcement. They suspected he was intoxicated and he ended up being stuffed into the back of a cop car. After a night in jail, he was let loose around 10AM the following morning.
As for why it’s not a big deal? Well, Jessica Simpson’s singing career has long been over. Sure, she was big at the time and it carried over into reality television. At that point Joe was managing Jessica and her sister’s singing careers. He made some bold, smart moves, and a ton of cash.
There were spin-offs of the original show, The Newlyweds, and her sister Ashlee even landed her own show after getting married and knocked up.
Good for them.
The point is that after that all we heard form Jessica was that she landed a role in the Dukes Of Hazard. After divorcing Nick Lachey, things got awfully quiet. All we know is that she had her baby named Maxwell and things are good.
As for her hold man Joe, well, he is a man of God. If you remember, he was a youth pastor right before Jessica’s rise to fame.
He has been criticized for making his daughter a sex symbol, which some people consider to be anti-Christian.
I wonder what those people think about drinking and driving?
Well, I guess no one is perfect. We will have to wait and see what comes of this. I’m guessing Jessica will throw a bunch of money and it and that will be it.
