This is huge news. The cast of Breaking Dawn Part II is being told to keep completely mum when it comes to the Kristen Stewart cheating scandal. But why?
Well, it should seem pretty obvious that this whole thing could have a real impact on the franchise. Do you remember how big of a deal it was when we found out that Rob an Kristen were actually TOGETHER? I mean, it was something they hid for a long time. It got to the point that three MTV Movie Awards shows in a row included bits about them kissing. It was as if people were dying to see them together.
Now this. Cheating, and caught on camera!
So the biggest problem is that this could turn some of the teen girl audience against the real life Bella. Remember, most fans feel sorry for her character because she is so helpless, and she is stuck in such a tough situation in the movies. If you take away some of that sympathy people might actually lose interest.
The whole gag order deal started when the actress who plays Bella’s friend Angela Weber said something about ticket sales. This caused a little panicking on Summit’s behalf, which led to reports of a strict order not to talk about the scandal.
I guess the problem is that those who manage Summit probably think a lot of fans REALLY love the romance involved with them. It almost makes the movies more real. It might make some of the younger audience feel like the films are less realistic.
But for those of us who live and function in the adult world, this is completely ridiculous. Who cares if they are actually together? If anything, it will be interesting to see how they handle premieres. Imagine how awkward that could be!
