It is official Steven Tyler will not return to American Idol as a judge for season 12.
For weeks thee has been speculation about whether or not the singe would continue on as a judge on the hit FOX show. Yesterday Tyler and Fox both confirmed the news that he was leaving to focus on his music. Here is what Steven had to say about exiting AI.
“After some long … hard … thoughts … I’ve decided it’s time for me to let go of my mistress American Idol before she boils my rabbit. I strayed from my first love, Aerosmith, and I’m back – but instead of begging on my hands and knees, I’ve got two fists in the air and I’m kicking the door open with my band. Idol was over-the-top fun, and I loved every minute of it…Now it’s time to bring rock back.”
The news that the rocker is saying good-bye to AI is not really shocking. In fact the show was lucky have to him be a judge for the two seasons he was on there. I personally love me some Aerosmith so I am thrilled that he will be focusing on the group again.
Nothing against Steven but I didn’t love him as a judge so I am not really all that upset he is leaving. Yes he brought a different dynamic to the reality TV show but he didn’t impress me that much as a judge that is just my opinion.
Now that Tyler’s leaving has been confirmed there are two questions being asked. One is obviously who will replace him, Adam Lambert’s name has been thrown into the mix. The other question is whether or not Jennifer Lopez will be following in Tyler’s footsteps and leaving the show as well. We will just have to wait and see what happens but something tells me the next season of American Idol will yet again have some major changes to it.
