Lionsgate has issued a statement, shutting down the short lived Twilight franchise reboot rumors.  Get the details below of what the movie house had to say about the possibility of a Twilight remake.

Summit Entertainment has officially put an end to a new rumor that claimed their parent company Lionsgate was working on plans to reboot the successful Twilight franchise that follows well known characters Bella and Edward.

The possibility of a redo of the film adaptations took on a life of its own after the book’s author Stephenie Meyer said during an interview that she would like to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the movie and book series in the beginning of 2013 with a reboot.

Bloody Disgusting was one of the first sites to break the news and in good humor. “They’ll deny it right here, right now.  We’ll get plenty of eggs in our face. Sites will burn us at the stake like a witch during the Salem trials.  Still, the fact will remain, it’s true.”

Since then fans have been ecstatic about the possibilities of seeing Bella, Edward, and Jake, in a new way across the big screen.  With growing speculation, the studio has made it clear in a statement that the rumors are not true, but are not entirely impossible.  “We are not remaking Twilight. We will happily support Stephanie Meyer if she decides to proceed in any way. But this will be the last one unless that should change,” Summit’s co-chairman Rob Friedman told Deadline.

At least some good news came out of the Lionsgate statement.  Many will also recall prior rumors surrounding a possible Twilight TV series.  So far news on that front has been stagnate.  What do you think Twilight fans?  Would you like to see a reboot or a television series centered on the vampire saga that has managed to gross billions at the box office?
