Etta James, tied for first-place with Janis Joplin as my favorite female singer of all times, has had to cancel several tour dates after being hospitalized earlier today. The 69-year-old blues singer was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for complications from an abdominal surgery she’d had last month.

Apparently, everything is fine. Etta is in stable condition and should be back on the road by August 23rd, so long as all goes well. I’m thinking it was probably the gastric bybass she had last year…Etta was a large woman, but looks healthier than she has in years and apparently sounds just as good as she did in this You Tube video! Listen to the lady wail!

She’d better not go dyin’ on me!
