Another anchor shakeup at NBC. CNN announced this morning that they have hired Weekend Today co-anchor Campbell Brown. She announced on the show yesterday that she would be leaving NBC. No word yet on what exactly her role would be over at CNN, though there is rumor that there will be a prime time shake-up over there, especially with Paula Zahn’s less than stellar ratings.
Campbell Brown had co-hosted Weekend Today on NBC with Lester Holt since 2003. She was in the running to take Katie Couric’s Today job, but obviously that went to Meredith Vieira. Cindy Adams reported that Campbell felt that the job should have gone to her. Oh, the world of network news television….
Campbell also announced last month that she is pregnant. This is the first child for her and husband Dan Senor, a Fox news contributor and Republican strategist.
What do you think? Good move for Campbell? I think so. I have always enjoyed watching her and do agree that she should have filled the void that Katie Couric left, so if it’s sour grapes on Campbell’s part, so be it. NBC has lost a mighty fine anchor and I’m sure CNN is thrilled to have her on board.
