Actress Ashley Judd is firing back at the media for not only speculation about her recent puffy face but also for the way women are criticized in the media. This is one heated topic that has lots of people talking.
As you may or may not know Judd was recently seen with a fuller or puffy face, if you watched the first couple of episodes of her new show Missing you know what I am talking about. Ever since she was seen with the fuller face there has been speculation that perhaps she got some work done. That my friends was not the case, her rep explained that Ashley’s fuller face was simply due to a sinus infection and the medication she was taking for it.
Once the her rep explained the real deal that could have been the end of it however the actress was not pleased with the speculation and decided to write a message on the Daily Beast. You can read an excerpt of what she wrote below.
“The conversation [about my face] was pointedly nasty, gendered, and misogynistic and embodies what all girls and women in our culture, to a greater or lesser degree, endure every day.”
She went on to call the debate “the assault on [women's] body image.” If you want to read her message in its entirety you can go to the Daily Beast. What I want to talk about is not so much what she said but her action of speaking out and sticking up for not only herself but other woman. I personally think it is freaking awesome. I am not even going to get into the debate about how she is a celeb and in the spotlight etc etc or what if it was a child blah blah blah. All of that has been said. I just think it is great that she spoke her mind and that it wasn’t just about her but all woman. That is what I have to say about this rather hot topic what are your thoughts?
