By now everyone has heard of Richard Branson’s space ambitions. He is actually accepting deposits for anyone with enough cash that wants to orbit the Earth.
Not surprisingly, some of the super-rich people are celebrities. The list has already grown to 500 people, and there is one Hollywood celebrity that apparently jumped at the chance of being the 500th person to sign up…Ashton Kutcher.
The timing is perfect for him. He managed to ride Charlie Sheen’s coattails and landed a spot of Two And A Half Men. Suddenly he went from being a Kaballah practicing, cougar marrying guy to a television star once again. His performance was met with mixed reviews, but either way, he was in the spotlight again.
Just as that move was starting to become old news he has managed to land back in the media cycle. This time it’s for laying a huge pile of money down to be in line for a space trip.
His deposit was such big news that even Branson himself had to comment on it:
“I gave Ashton a quick call to congratulate and welcome him… He is as thrilled as we are at the prospect of being among the first to cross the final frontier (and back!) with us and to experience the magic of space for himself.”
I guess they have been in touch personally about this as well.
So far the first flight of the Virgin Galactic program is set for this year, but it seems doubtful that it will actually happen so soon. The plan that Branson has is to set off into space with his children on the very first flight.
I guess he is pretty confident in the safety of his product if he will be going up not only by himself, but with his kids.
Would you go if you could afford it?
