Sting and his wife, Trudie Styler, were ordered to pay up $51,000 to their former chef, Jane Martin, after she won a sexual discrimination claim against the two. Martin said that she was fired after she became pregnant.

During a hearing early this past year, Martin said that she had worked for Sting and his wife for eight years. When Jane became pregnant in 2005, she said that Trudie had become unhappy with her and forced her to work long hours and even got upset when Jane took time off from work due to illness. Jane left her chef position in April of 2006.

A ruling in May by the panel at an employment tribunal in Southampton, England said that Jane had been unlawfully dismissed by Sting and Styler’s management company – Lake House Estate, and was in fact the victim of sexual discrimination.

Sting and his wife Trudie have filed an appeal.
