It is a brand new year and by the looks of things it is going to be a good one for Heather Knox. Along with the honor of being Playboy’s Playmate of the month for January, the blonde beauty is hoping to be front and center at the Super Bowl. If only her beloved Colts didn’t make the playoffs this football lover is still thrilled to possibly get the chance to see the big game. Heather was gracious enough to answer a couple of questions for me recently, she totally rocks!
Rachelle: Congratulations on being Miss January! Can you tell me how this great honor came about for you?
Heather: I’ve known since my late teens that I wanted to have some sort of affiliation with Playboy. I was surfing the net one day over this past summer and clicked on a link to Playboy. I saw that they were holding an open casting call in Columbus, OH, so my sister and I decided to make a road trip out of it! A month or so later I got a phone call from Playboy’s senior editor inviting me out to LA for a test shoot! Hef approved me to shoot a Centerfold, and here I am!
Rachelle: How did it feel to see yourself in the infamous magazine for the first time?
Heather: SURREAL! I’m still in shock. Every time I open it, I get goose bumps. I am so honored.
Rachelle: You recently hosted the Playboy Comedy Show at The Lounge at the Palms Casino, what was that like?
Heather: It was so much fun! Nerve-wracking though! I’ve always thought of myself as a very outgoing person. I’m not shy at all and I can talk to strangers pretty well. But walking on that stage, with the spotlight on me, I clammed up! I was shaking, sweating, I thought I was going to vomit! That was way more nerve-wracking than posing for Playboy! I did a couple of performances. My first was on Thursday and my last was on Saturday. By then I was a little more comfortable. I thought it would be easy to crack a laugh out of the audience, but in front of the crowd, with the spotlight, any humor you think you might have is out the window! I forgot my name when I walked up there!
Rachelle: Can you tell me a little bit about your family, your background, where you grew up?
Heather: I was born and raised in Indianapolis, IN. My dad and grandparents raised me. I have an older sister, a younger sister and a younger brother. I am very close with my family. My sisters are my best friends.
Rachelle:You are a diehard Colts fan, when did your love for the team begin?
Heather: Probably when I started working at Hooters. That is when I learned the rules of the game so I knew when and when not to interrupt a table full of fans watching the game. It didn’t take long for me start watching the game with them. Before I knew it I started requesting Sundays off so I could fully indulge myself into the game! I actually started going to the games, and that’s when I REALLY fell in love! The whole atmosphere of being at the stadium with the roaring fans, the smell of the food, and the sea of blue and white is just amazing!
Rachelle: How did you get involved with your fantasy football league “Show Me Your TDs”?
Heather: My ex-boyfriend plays fantasy football every year, and I always felt left out when he would talk to our friends about that day’s game or check his scores. I told him last year that I really wanted to try it, so he found a league for me to play on this year!
Rachelle: You get to go the Super Bowl this year in your hometown, which is amazing. How excited are you for that opportunity and who do you think will be playing in the game?
Heather: Well it hasn’t been confirmed yet that I get to go, so I’m not getting too excited about it. I have no idea who will be in the game this year. I’ve been so busy with Playboy that I haven’t had the chance to keep up with the games as much as I would like. All I know is that it won’t be the Colts! How cool would that have been though! To anyone that is going to the game- Lucas Oil Stadium is so cool! You’ll see!!
Rachelle: Can you tell me something that people might be surprised to know about you?
Heather: I lived in New Zealand for 18 months. I met a kiwi (the term for New Zealanders) boy here in the states back in 2006. He was living in America racing cars. He had to move back home, so I decided to visit him out there for a few weeks. A few weeks turned into 18 months!! I moved back home because I was homesick. Needless to say, the kiwi and I are no longer seeing each other.
Rachelle: What is next for you?
Heather: I honestly don’t know. I’m just taking everything one day at a time. I’m excited to meet my fellow Playmate sisters and learn about what they’ve done with their careers since they were named Playmate. I’d like to hopefully meet lots of cool and exciting people that can help me learn more about myself, the things I might be good at, and what it is that I would like to accomplish long term in life. I ultimately would like to have a family one day, a couple of kids and a loving husband.
Rachelle: Is there anything else our readers should know about you?
Heather: I feel extremely blessed and privileged to have been given this opportunity. I never thought I would actually become a Playmate, and I want to thank everyone who supports me!! If it weren’t for all of the readers, none of us would have this chance, so thank you!!!
If you haven’t picked your latest issues of Playboy featuring Knox you still have time. I think big things are in store for 26 year old Knox so keep your eye on her.
