According to TMZ, Deschanel made a trip to the L.A. County Superior Court on the 27th of December, where she stated that the couple has been separated since Halloween of last year.

“I’d seen her movies and obviously I thought she was very beautiful,” Gibbard once told New York magazine, while Deschanel called her soon to be ex-husband “a very conscientious person.”
Both performers are said to still be “friendly” with one another as confirmed by the FOX star. US Weekly also shared the same news, per an unknown source that spoke with the mag, the the split “was mutual and amicable,” adding, “there was no third party involved.”
While both performers may have hit a rough patch in their personal lives, both are doing extremely well professionally. While Zooey is raking in the ratings with her New Girl series as the quirky single Jess, Gibbard just dropped a seventh album with Death Cab for Cutie that has garnered mostly positive reviews.
