More details regarding the divorce between funny man Russell Brand and singer Katy Perry have finally been released. After court papers were filed last week, with little details being divulged regarding the celebrity couple’s split, TMZ has revealed their account, per an inside source, as to what went wrong in Brand and Perry’s short lived marriage of one year.

According to the reliable site, Russell Brand was the one in the relationship to file for divorce because of Katy’s religious parents, who would frown upon their daughter’s failed marriage. Perry’s parents are Christian and if their daughter filed they would have been upset. Together Brand and Perry were have said to have discussed the situation, leading to the Forgetting Sarah Marshall actor to officially pull the plug on their relationship as husband and wife.

TMZ has also revealed that the two are still friends but just couldn’t make their marriage work due to their stubbornness, the different lifestyles they both lead as well as the distance between them when they were both on the road traveling for their jobs.

While many are citing that the two split amicably, it has also been announced that Russell Brand will be entitled to half of Katy Perry’s earnings. After marrying last October 2010 Perry has earned an estimated 40 million, entitling Brand to 20 million. The comedian and actor is worth 11 million on his own. All of this of course will hinge on California’s divorce laws, and what Brand and Perry agree to.
