After weeks of silence regarding their marital situation, Demi Moore finally confirms what we all have thought to be inevitable, she and Ashton Kutcher are divorcing after six years of marriage. News of strife between the two first made headlines in September, when they were not together on their sixth wedding anniversary. It was during that anniversary weekend that Kutcher allegedly had a fling with Sara Leal. Following that so called incident, they were the subject of regular tabloid fodder, with Demi obviously humiliated by Ashton’s actions.
Today, Demi Moore released the following statement:
“It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my six-year marriage to Ashton. As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life. This is a trying time for me and my family, and so I would ask for the same compassion and privacy that you would give to anyone going through a similar situation.”
Kutcher’s statement regarding their split came via Twitter:
“I will forever cherish the time I spent with Demi. Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and unfortunately sometimes they fail. Love and Light, AK.”
Hmmm. I think Demi (@MrsKutcher) needs to change her Twitter handle. Like ASAP.
As we all know, this is not the first time Kutcher has been caught in an extramarital alleged romp. Brittney Jones came forward in September of 2010 and claimed she did the deed with the actor after she met Kutcher at the Lucky Strike Lanes in Hollywood during the summer of 2010.
As their divorce proceedings begin, they will reportedly go head to head over their combined $290 million fortune. I think things are about to get ugly!
