Oy, don’t get Avril Lavigne and Chantal Kreviazuk together in the same room….catfight!! Chantal Kreviazuk recently spoke to Performing Songwriter magazine for the June issue, and in the conversation was told that they had recently interviewed Avril Lavigne, whom Chantal used to write with.
I find it funny that it’s in Performing Songwriter. I mean, Avril, songwriter? Avril doesn’t really sit and write songs by herself or anything. Avril will also cross the ethical line, and no one says anything. That’s why I’ll never work with her again. I sent her a song two years ago called “Contagious,” and I just saw the track listing to this album [the newly-released The Best Damn Thing] and there’s a song called “Contagious” on it—and my name’s not on it. What do you do with that?
According to Pop Dirt, this is not the first time that Avril’s songwriting capabilities have been in question. The Matrix (a songwriting team) apparently took all of the credit for the songwriting on Lavigne’s debut “Let Go”. This pissed her off to the point that Avril claimed she would never work with them again. Hmmm. Who do you believe?

[...] Avril Lavigne is a poser but you already knew that [...]

Avril Lavigne is a poser. Couldn’t agree more. Her punk posing and flipping the bird in videos is intended for children. How punk is it to hire Dr. Luke to “co-write” a song with you? The Sex Pistols were punk. Avril is part of the corporate machine. I dare her and her record company to release a single WITHOUT making a video. And I dare Avril to write and release a song she wrote solely herself. The record company wouldn’t allow it. That tells you everything right there. These are not the first allegations against Avril’s song writing capability.

her songs mostly cover the “i broke up with my boyfriend so everything sucks now.”
type of situation.
and, like many have said before me, she’s a talentless whiner. her voice sounds like a dying cats, her lyrics are FAR from ‘deep’ and ‘meaningful’. and her music is FAR from an art form.
she treats music, poetry, the subculture of punk, and art all around, like a JOKE.

ONE MORE THING…..
the producers she’s working with…God, do i feel bad for those guys.
they could be off producing the next Pearljam album. but no.
instead the people she works with are STUCK with HER in the studio, a completly musically HANDICAPPED person.
i feel bad for her producers, studio ingeneres, manager, and even the bands that tour with her.
i hate this little girl. she’s nothing worth respect. she’s a talentless whiner trying to save her job by bitching about how “hot” she thinks she is.
she’s clearly selfish, arrogant, talentless, and stupid.
she’s only out there to make catchy pop songs and make her lable and MTV a ton of cash.
she’s really nothing.

Your all just jealous. I have NEVER been a fan of any group, movie “star” or any such person.
My 10 year old daughter (I’m 37) introduced me to her music, and I must say, the latest album is really excellent. I normally am very critical of pop music in general, but I bought this one myself.
Grow up everyone, the credits for her songs cite her as a composer, if it was not true the litigous Americans would sue her for ther last penny.
So grow up
Conor.
p.s.: I’ve never seen any of her videos (don’t watch much TV) – I like her songwriting.

If she was so talentless I doubt Shania Twain would of picked her out of all those people in that contest..
clearly she does have talent and her songs are just a way of expressing herself like everyone else. Her first album “let go” completely proved her abilitys to sing and songwrite. yes she got help with the song writing but it topped the charts and people fell in love with her.
At first she was a tomboy growing up..now shes 24..you cant expect someone to not want to change there appearance somewhat..I mean thats not making her a “poser”
To be honest I used to look up to her, and I think as a young person it was better to do that then to look up to the majority of the half naked pop stars out there now.
I mean she has her own sense of style and it may not be what people like but it sure is better looking at that then looking at britney spears flaunting her ass to young girls.
I mean whos the better rolemodel?
Not saying she wants to be one but I deffinately have to say she has talent and she deserves all the fans she has because of it.

Actually it’s pretty clear that Avril is quite the fan of plagiarism; the similarities between her songs and others by artists like Peaches are hardly debatable. If she were writing a term paper, she’d get expelled from a university for unethical practice for not citing her sources. “She has her own sense of style”? What? Aping late 90′s/early 00′s mall-goth fashion is unique? To answer your question, i think neither Avril or Britney is a better role model, but at least Britney is pretty aware of the kind of image she promulgates, unlike Avril who pretends to be “rawk” and punk and anti-image, but still “flaunts her ass” and still gets half naked in magazines.
In other news, I find it highly irritating and childish when people scream “your just jellus” or similar when going on the defensive with criticism. I don’t like what Charles Manson did, am i just jealous of him?

She wrote “nobody’s home” by herself and “contagious” on her album was completely different from the one chantel sent her. Usually she gets even or someone to play guitar for her because aren’t up to par with the pros, althogh ah CAN and DOES play, and is better at it. She don’t need the guitar player as much anymore because She’s gotten really good.

If you think she steals songs you are wrong. A lot of songs sounds like other songs.

Avril is one of the most talented woman in the world.
