Mary-Louise Parker Joins ‘R.I.P.D.’ & More Casting News

Weeds actress Mary-Louise Parker has joined the star line-up of Robert Schwentke’s comic book adaptation R.I.P.D. Get the details here, and more casting news from around the web.

Mary-Louise Parker, who plays felon Nancy Botwin in the Showtime series Weeds, has signed on to appear in ‘R.I.P.D.’ with the already attached string of A-listers, Ryan Reynolds, Jeff Bridges, and Kevin Bacon. Parker will play the character who oversees the zombie police division in the 2013 flick.

For the unknown, the graphic novel follows a “newly deceased cop (Ryan Reynolds) who’s drafted into a squad of zombie cops that battle the supernatural, with Jeff Bridges co-starring as his partner and Kevin Bacon playing the villain,” per Fandango. Robert Schwentke is directing the project that will kick off shooting next month.

Meanwhile, the awesome and hilariousness that is actress Rebel Wilson has scored three new film roles. Wilson is slated to appear in the indie comedy ‘Bachelorette’, with Will Ferrell and Adam McKay producing. Isla Fischer, Kirsten Dunst and Lizzy Caplan are also on board. She is also attached to show up in Pitch Perfect, and Ice Age: Continental Drift.

In other casting news, the upcoming picture ‘Straight A’s’, from director James Cox has formed a sturdy line-up. Per Variety, actor Luke Wilson is on board “as an addict who is haunted by his mother and forced to move back home with his brother, who’ll be played by Ryan Phillippe. There the brother’s wife, Anna Paquin, will begin to fall again for Wilson’s character, a former love.”

Actress Abigail Breslin has added another new role to her plate. Little Miss Sunshine will now take on the ‘Class Project’ under the wing of director Stan Brooks. In short, the film comes from a true story about two sisters who decide to kill their alcoholic mother under the “guise of a school project.” Breslin’s partner in crime has yet to be announced. The movie will begin production later on this August.

Finally, Christian Bale is reportedly set to work with director Terrence Malick once again. Bale is rumored to be joining Malick’s upcoming mystery film in the lead role with a number of leading lady’s (Rooney Mara, Haley Bennet, Clemence Poesy) competing for the female lead. Other than those slim details not much else is known as of late. We’ll keep you posted.
