Although the last Sex and the City movie didn’t exactly command stellar reviews, a TV show delving into Carrie Bradshaw, as an insecure teen, just might.

According to Hollywood.Com, the CW network could be scoring the rights to the pre-chic world of Bradshaw created by Candice Bushnell in The Carrie Diaries. Right now the green network, that is home to beloved teen dramas like Gossip Girls and 90210, is said to be in negotiations with Warner Brothers TV.

“Discussions are underway for The Carrie Diaries, Candace Bushnell’s book about Carrie Bradshaw’s high school years, to find a home as a potential television series,” HBO said in a statement.

Holding the rights, HBO isn’t interested in airing the show due to its demographics, but “the pay cable network had been seeking another outlet for the potential series,” Deadline reported, with the CW network being the front runner. And while the network is working towards a deal, they have already reportedly pegged the dynamic duo of O.C. and ‘Gossip Girl’ creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage to produce the show through their Fake Empire banner, with Candace Bushnell also on board to produce. Meanwhile, writer Amy Harris could be joining the creative bunch to pen the Carrie Diaries script.

When it comes to Sex and the City’s Michael Patrick King, the former show runner seems to be done with Carrie! King shared his thoughts about climbing on board the Carrie Diaries prequel.

“I’m not working on any Sex and the City prequel at all. I haven’t read Candace’s Bushnell’s books. … My Carrie Bradshaw started at 33 and I took her to 43 — I don’t even want to know who Carrie Bradshaw’s parents are … the idea of going backward, making her less evolved, is something that I can’t even imagine doing.”

What do you think? Would you tune in to a Sex and the City prequel?
