Milestone birthday for Hollywood It Girl Jennifer Lawrence, 21 years young today! It’s been quite a whirlwind year for the young actress, winning several awards for her portrayal of Ree in the indie film Winter’s Bone, including an Academy Award. Not bad for a 21-year-old!

Lawrence is currently filming The Hunger Games, the big screen adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ popular novel. When Lawrence was first offered the role of heroine Katniss Everdeen, was it a resounding yes on behalf of the birthday girl? Not quite. While she did read the whole trilogy before auditioning, she told EW in May that she was a bit undecided. She explained, “I knew that as soon as I said yes, my life would change. And I walked around an entire day thinking ‘It’s not too late, I could still go back and do indies, I haven’t said yes yet, it’s not too late.’ [But] I love this story and if I had said no, I would regret it every day.”

Well, thank goodness she said yes, as I can’t think of another actress more perfect for the role. There is no doubt that she will amaze everyone in this film, she certainly didn’t win an Oscar in February for nothing. I still can’t believe she’s only 21 years old. Ahhh, to be young again!

Lawrence recently wrapped up filming House at the End of the Street, where she plays the daughter of Elisabeth Shue in this horror flick due out in April 2012. The Mark Tonderai (Hush) directed thriller centers around a mother and teenage daughter who move into a new town and find out their house is next door to where a girl murdered her parents. The surviving son makes friends with Lawrence and she realizes that there’s more to the story than meets the eye. Looking forward to that film!

Looks like 2012 will be another incredible year for her. Happy happy birthday, Jennifer Lawrence!
