Red Tails 1

The first official trailer for the George Lucas’ penned ad produced movie Red Tails’ has hit the web, making the long wait worthwhile. After years of waiting for Lucas to put pen to paper on something outside of both Star Wars and Indiana Jones, the time has come and so far it looks like Lucas, and his cohorts, Hemingway and scribe John Ridley (Third Watch & Three Kings), have really created quite a sight, and story for the big screen.

For the unknown, ‘Red Tails’ is based on a true story and chronicles the “Tuskegee Airmen, the first African-American pilots to fly in a combat squadron during World War II.” Starring in the film is the awesome and always amazing Terrence Howard as the character Col. A.J. Bullard , Cuba Gooding Jr. in the role of Major Emanuelle Stance , Michael B. Jordan as Maurice ‘Bumps’ Wilson, Tristan Wilds as Ray ‘Ray Gun’ Gannon, Method Man as Sticks, Ne-Yo playing the character Andrew ‘Smoky’ Salem, and Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston as Maj. William Mortamus.

Seen in the 2.36 minute sneak peek, the WWII drama shows off scenes of high flying pilots battling it out in the sky with firey explosions. Also seen in the trailer are moments of comradery, Terrence Howard’s booming speeches, struggles, discrimination, awesome flying sequences, plenty of action, and all those familiar faces. If the trailer makes you feel good, you know Red Tails is a must see.

The movie will be released this coming January 2012 with the hopes (according to EW) that the debut of “the race-themed drama, carried largely by an African-American ensemble (and Bryan Cranston who plays a bigot in the film), to coincide with Martin Luther King Day.”
