Favorite Amy Winehouse Performances VIDEOS

July 25, 2011

Remembering Amy Winehouse for her talent and the amazing musical gifts she left us is what I choose to think of when I remember the troubled star. Here are my favorite performances and pictures of Amy.

Along with her steady rise to international fame and recognition came the disastrous tortured side of Amy Winehouse. It seemed for every single that climbed the charts, she took a turn for the worse, diving into drugs and alcohol, and a seemingly unhealthy relationship with her husband (at the time) Blake Fielder-Civil.

When I heard of her death this weekend, I was not surprised. It was a long time coming. I had actually stopped watching her disastrous “booed off the stage” performances because it was actually like watching this woman die on stage. It is not what I wanted to remember or support.

She only made two studio albums in her short career, but she made quite the impact, changing music and bringing attention to the British music scene. Despite there being more horrendous performances than there are amazing ones, when she did do well, she nailed it and there was nothing to do but enjoy her music.

She wrote about life, love, pain, and addiction, and she poured her heart out through her music and gave us everything she had. It was beautiful. She earned five Grammys for her Back to Black album, putting her in the Guinness Book Of World Records for the Most Grammy Awards won by a British Female Act. I played that album on repeat for a good two weeks. I watched Back To Black’s music video over and over. It never grows old.

You can expect some new music to come out in the coming months, as she was said to have completed her third studio album. But her old work will mark a time in history for fans, as it related to us at that time.

One of my favorite comments left by fans,

This woman lived it, love it, drank it, smoked it, f-ed it and put it all into words so we could share in her pain, pleasure, and laughter. She was a raw, ugly, beautiful disaster. Talented beyond words!! May you be given the peace in death that was denied to you in life.

Here are some of my favorite performances, and pictures. She was a beautiful, brilliantly gifted, tortured soul. Talent like Amy comes few and far between. May she rest in peace.
