The highly anticipated wedding of Monaco’s Prince Albert to Charlene Wittstock, a South African former Olympic swimmer, occurred over the weekend. The civil ceremony took place on Friday, with the religious ceremony presiding on Saturday. We’ve got full details of their wedding including some photos and video highlights. In honor of their nuptials, they are our Celebrity Couple of the Week.

The bride wore a silk Duchesse Giorgio Armani Privé off white dress and looked absolutely stunning! The dress was adorned with Swarovski crystals with flower embroidery. The Prince wore the cream summer uniform of Monaco’s palace guards. Three medals could be seen on his uniform – the French Legion of Honor, Order of Saint Charles and the Order of Grimaldi. As he made his way to the altar, the Prince was all smiles as he winked at the several friends and family members who were there to witness the royal nuptials.

Princess Charlene looked nervous as she walked down the aisle, escorted by her father, Michael Kenneth Wittstock. Who can blame her, really, as all eyes were on the pretty blonde, about to say her ‘I Do’s’ in front of European royalty and celebrity guests. They said their vows in French, Monaco’s official language, and it’s been reported that the Princess has been studying the language for the last several months in preparation for her big day.

After the ceremony, the two headed to St. Devote chapel where Charlene left her wedding bouquet, which is said to be tradition. It was there that the 33-year-old was overcome with emotion, crying as she left the chapel. Let’s hope that they were tears of joy.

The palace has vehemently denied reports that Charlene was on the verge of becoming a runaway bride, saying that it was complete nonsense. And why would she allegedly want to leave her upcoming life as a princess? News of her Prince allegedly fathering a child who is 18 months of age. That would certainly put a damper on your upcoming wedding, eh?

Le Journal du Dimanche said, ‘Several sources have confirmed that an arrangement was reached between the future bride and groom.’ The Prince has two illegitimate children, an 18-year-old girl and a 6-year-old boy, who were not present at the wedding so they would not be subject to ‘media exposure’ as a palace official told Le Journal du Dimanche. Additionally, he said,

‘The truth of the rumour is that Albert faces paternity tests following a claim by at least one former lover. Albert will not have an official heir until Princess Charlene bears him one.’

Is that the arrangement the Palace official speaks of? That she allegedly stay with him until an heir is produced?

At any rate, the two are now wed, and let’s hope that all this talk of Prince Albert fathering a child/children while he was with Charlene is pure craziness.

Congratulations to the Prince and his Princess. Or maybe ‘good luck’ is more appropriate.
