Drama Surrounds Monaco Royal Wedding

June 30, 2011

It’s another high profile nuptials that’s been talked about for months, but unfortunately, there’s been some drama surrounding the Monaco Royal wedding of Prince Albert II and Charlene Wittstock, scheduled over the next two days – Friday and Saturday. Wittstock, a former Olympic swimmer who hails from South Africa, was rumored to be having cold feet and was being dubbed a ‘runaway bride’. Will this royal wedding go on as planned?

Do you still have royal wedding on the brain? Yeah, me too. Luckily for us there’s another one scheduled for this weekend, or at least we hope one will take place.

The Daily Mail reported that Wittstock’s passport was confiscated at the airport after trying to fly back to her homeland, South Africa, last week. What prompted her to leave? According to the DM, a rumor was circulating that Prince Albert had fathered another illegitimate child. He has two other children born out of wedlock, a 19-year-old girl whose mother is American, and a 6-year-old boy whose mother he met while on an Air France flight. He has claimed responsibility for the two and provided financially for them as well.

The Palace is denying that the airport incident took place, calling the story ‘completely, completely crazy’. A publicist for the Prince said, “These rumors only serve to gravely hurt the image of the Sovereign, and that of Miss Wittstock, and bring major harm to this happy event.” Let’s hope that the story is in fact rubbish. Otherwise there may be a quickie divorce!

The lavish wedding, which should be underway shortly, is rumored to have a price tag of a cool $60 million. Festivities for the party weekend kicked off earlier this evening where The Eagles gave a concert at Stade Louis II stadium. 3500 guests are expected to witness their nuptials, a civil ceremony will take place on Friday and the religious ceremony follows on Saturday, July 2nd.

We’ll have photos of the Monaco Royal Wedding as they become available, so be sure to bookmark our site!
