Shannon Tweed truly mad at Gene Simmons

When I first wrote about the split between Shannon Tweed and Gene Simmons earlier this week, I was skeptical. Both had been making the rounds of talk shows promoting the sixth season premier of Gene Simmons Family Jewels. But after watching the actual hour-long episode on A&E, it is quite obvious that Shannon Tweed is truly mad at Gene Simmons. Not only for possibly cheating on her with other women, but Gene′s blatant selfishness missing family events due to his business pursuits.

After seeing the initial reports prior to the show′s airing, I suspected that Gene was in the clear as far as any infidelity. At 61, he′s not as spry as he used to be. Plus, as I wrote last time, Simmons is really sort of dull. His on-stage persona is an act, nothing more. After watching five seasons of his Reality TV series, Gene strikes me as someone who is very focused on business and little else.

During the premier episode, it became quite clear that Shannon Tweed is very much disappointed with her relationship with Gene Simmons. He missed a family dinner with Nick and Sophie, both of whom have now moved out, as Sophie begins college. Shannon′s demeanor since both children leaving is understandable. The nest is empty and her role as mother, and friend to both children is reduced.

What set her off was a photo of Gene leaving a restaurant with two young ladies astride of him. Now, when you watch the video of what happened, you see that the young ladies were there more so to impress a business client and Simmons departed without them. But Shannon has a good point when she confronted him about it. Why is he still behaving in this manner? He is successful in his own right and does not have to play up the whole rock star image anymore.

The final straw broke while both attended a therapy session. Gene agreed to see a ′shrink′, even though he chickened out on the first meeting. After a couple of solo sessions, the psychiatrist suggested that Shannon attend the next one. Big mistake because it was probably too early. Gene talked about how his focus on business was the most important thing in his life, since he sees money and being a provider as equal to family time and love. This is when Shannon got up and left, while Gene just sat their continuing to defend his position. She went home, packed her bags and left.

We′ll see how this conflict between Shannon Tweed and Gene Simmons plays out as the sixth season of Gene Simmons Family Jewels continues. I sincerely hope they can work it out, but Gene has a long way to go in order resolve this mess he has created. But if anybody can turn this around, it is Simmons. He′s smart enough, when he has to be, and right now, he needs to be very, very smart!

I’m on the fence around the true reality of this latest round of shows. Part of seems brutally honest and on the mark, yet am I the only one that noticed through multiple therapy sessions, neither the therapist or Gene change their clothes? It’s the exact same ensemble in every shot. Hmmmmmm.

Very good! The fact the Gene wears the same black suit does not surprise as he often wears it. He’s a dull, creature of habit. The therapist though is a different matter. Two articles ago, when I first started writing about this situation, I was skeptical. My guess is that Shannon may have had a bad day, suffering from postpartum depression now that Sophie moved out to attend college. During the therapy she mentioned crying for three years, the same time since Nick moved out.

Which, of course, brings us to just how mad can she be at Gene since what is really bugging her is the fact that her kids are grown up? I suspect that during the “intervention”, the advice given to Gene was to spend as much time with Shannon as possible, taking her on trips, etc.
