So what’s the final verdict? Did Susan Lucci & Desperate Housewives agree to a contract? Did she sign on the dotted line? A former co-star of hers on AMC may have spilled the beans. Uh oh. Get the details here!
I was absolutely crushed upon hearing that my longtime favorite soap, All My Children, had been canceled. What was I going to do without my daily dose of Erica Kane?
I knew that somehow, after All My Children’s last air date in September, that we would see her in one capacity or another on television. Come on, 42 years in this biz and with her talent? She would have no problem finding work. And guess what? It looks like she may have already found another job. Rumors started swirling almost immediately following the announcement of the AMC cancellation that Susan Lucci & Desperate Housewives were in talks. This would be perfect, right? Erica Kane on Wisteria Lane? Of course! So while the rumors have been running rampant all these weeks, a former AMC co-star, Elizabeth Rodriguez, spoke to our friends over at PopEater and well, kinda let the cat out of the bag.
“She’s going to ‘Desperate Housewives’ apparently. She has a contract at ABC. You heard it here first. That’s what I heard!”
In addition to Rodriguez’s recent revelation, the New York Post was told by a source at ABC that filming for AMC would conclude in August, and that Desperate Housewives starts their production of the new season in July. So yes, there would a bit of overlapping in shooting (providing the rumor is true). Luckily she would not have to travel coast to coast, because let me refresh your memory, All My Children relocated to California back in December 2009 due to the high cost of filming in NYC.
We have yet to hear any confirmation from either camp regarding Lucci joining the cast of Desperate Housewives. I think everyone would agree though, Wisteria Lane needs a new housewife, a la Erica Kane style.
Let me hear from you, AMC fans! What are your thoughts on her possibly joining the primetime show?
