Jay-Z, Beyonce Rumored to Perform at Royal Wedding Reception

April 25, 2011

There are whispers on the web this week that Jay-Z and wifey Beyonce will perform at the reception following the royal wedding. Things sure have come a long way from tea and crumpets.

Jay Z

In my unrefined America eyes, a royal wedding is a white glove event, complete with pinkies poking out, and servants standing by with towels draped over their arms.

Needless to say I nearly did a spit take with my coffee when I read that a self-made man, born in the slums of Brooklyn, could potentially be invited to entertain one of the most highbrow crowds in the world Friday. For some reason all I can picture is the queen standing in front of a stage, waving her hands from side to side.

Yeah, it’s a priceless mental picture, and if you believe British tabloid The Daily Star, it could be a reality. They claim that a ‘source’ offered up this tid-bit:

“They really wanted to make their big day even more special and what better way than by getting pop royalty to perform at the party?”

The tab pointed out that the husband and wife duo are already in Europe, and that the soon-to-be royal newlyweds wanted to ‘ditch traditions’ and opt for something fresh.

Though it hasn’t been confirmed or denied by ‘The Palace,’ I have my own opinion of the rumor, which can be summed up in one word:

I’ll eat my old Mets hat if I’m wrong, but to me there is no way in hell they would actually have a hip-hop act perform at the reception of this thing. Let’s be real. They won’t even let Kate Middleton go by ‘Kate’ anymore, what makes you think they would invite a man who ‘used to sell snow flakes by the O-Z’ to the freakin’ royal wedding reception?

What do you think? Oh, and do join us for the event live, right here at Right Celebrity.
