Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files Interview With Devin Marble

April 27, 2011

Devin Marble is one of the newest members of the Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files crew and he is loving life on the SyFy reality TV show. He is a really talented guy who adds a lot to an already fabulous show.

Night Clouds

I recently had the chance to participate in a Q&A interview session with Devin and he was awesome to talk to. I didn’t really know that much about Mr. Marble going into the interview but that changed very quickly. He is a fascinating guy with quite the interesting job.

Devin started off by sharing what it was like to be the new guy in an already established show and guess what being the new guy isn’t half bad. He said it was very exciting and the other cast members welcomed him with open arms. Plus he gave props to his co-workers talking about how incredibly intelligent and talented they were. So all in all it has been a great experience for him despite being new to the crew. Now that his first season with the show is wrapped, he looks forward to another season of more instances of really compelling stories and experiments that point to a question mark. Yes he gets excited to get those experiments where they did everything they could do or can do but for some reason they are not getting the answer that they need. Forget those simple yes or no answers, give him the ones that aren’t so black and white.

Since he is new to the show there isn’t much we know about him but Devin was more than willing to change that. His paranormal background started as a kid. When he was about 10 or 11 he spent about $100 of his allowance on two-way radio headsets to see if he could find any paranormal type sound waves or radio waves even though he wasn’t really sure what he was looking for. So clearly he is very interested in the paranormal. As for his experiment and technology background it is very much trial and error, making a mistake and doing it again. Then he takes new technology and uses it in unique ways to test to see if something is possibly there. It all sounded pretty cool to me even if I don’t understand a lot of the paranormal stuff.

I was lucky enough to get the chance to ask a question of Devin but since there was so much talk about his show and career I wanted to know what he did when he wasn’t working.

Rachelle: You spend a lot of time on the show, what do you do when you’re not filming the show?
Devin: I love to build and fix things. I actually just moved into a house and I completely renovated the garage into an office so I can do my own hobbies and experiments in there. I like to do videography, edit video and work with computers. I’m constantly goofing around with that kind of technology. I would be lying if I said I didn’t like to play video games. My gamer tag on Xbox is Tech Special, come on board if you want to have some fun. I like to have a good time. I think my friends always give me a hard time because I’m a naturally energetic person. I have lot of energy so I don’t like to stand around and do nothing.

As I said before much of the discussion focused on the show because well that was really the purpose of the interview. Like his favorite episodes are the more experiment driven ones like the Battle of LA case as well as the sea monster case that they did in Florida. For Devin it’s about choosing an experiment or a way to test something that is going to get you the solution that’s closer to an answer but not being afraid to try something that is unorthodox. Of course if we are talking about favorite cases comes the topic of dream cases and you know each member of the team has them. Devin actually got the chance to work on a dream case when they investigated the chupacabra. He is from Tucson, Arizona, which is like an hour from the Mexico border in Nogales so he was very aware of the chupacabra. He was very excited to get to investigate that because it was on his dream list.

There is no way one can go through the kind of experiences that Devin has and not learn something about yourself. When asked what Marble has learned he said it is simple, you have to be open to very different kinds of experimentation when it comes to paranormal activity. The reason being even if it seems like this experiment isn’t going to work they must do it anyway because that experiment sometimes brings up something else that will affect the next experiment. Sounds complicated to me but then again I know nothing about it.

Before we said goodbye, Marble talked about his love of video games and what some of his favorite ones are like Halo 4, Halo Retread and the Call of Duty games oh and he called Dragon Ball Z his guilty pleasure. Yes I would say he is a gamer for sure.

I had a fabulous time getting to know Devin Marble of Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files. He really is an amazing guy and if you haven’t seen the show you can check it out every Wednesday at 10PM EST on SyFy. It is a pretty great show!
