If you haven’t heard of the fabulous new group Official Hot Mess you will soon because this fabulous band is about the take the music world by storm. They have a great sound and quite the catchy name.

Official Hot Mess

I was fortunate enough to interview the two lovely ladies from Official Hot Mess sisters Kristy and Lindsey Landers the other day. These girls are awesome and it was such a pleasure to get the chance to talk them.

Q. I love the name of your band. How did you decide on it?
A. It seems like trouble and mischievous always find us so it was a good fit. Plus it describes the craziness of how we and the guys in the group are when we hit the road. It can be a hot mess.

Q. How many members are there and how did you all get together?
A. There are a total of six of us in the band, four guys and us. How we all came to be a band is actually quite an interesting story. We were opening for We The King and the four guys in our now band were opening as well. We all just started playing music together, writing and things began to click. The band has been together for about two years.

Q. What words would say best describe your sound?
A. Our sound is pop with a very rock influence kind of like by Heart, Cyndi Lauper or Pat Benatar. We like to use all different genres of music in our own style. We hope to someday be a great influence on other young artists.

Q. When can we expect an album from you?
A. The EP will be coming out in the fall. Right now we are focusing on releasing a single from the EP. Also we don’t have a name for the EP yet so we are considering having a Twitter contest to name it so be on the look out for that.

Q. Your music has been featured on shows like Keeping Up With The Kardashians and The Hills. What was like it to have your songs featured on such hit shows?
A. OMG it was super exciting for us to have that happen. It was so great the people from the shows approached us and we were psyched to get the opportunity. It was a great chance to get our music out there. We have a very do it ourselves attitude to get our music out there so fans can relate to it and that is a perfect example of that. It really helped expand the audience of our music in terms of fans of show and people to connect as well to help further our careers.

Q. Recently you formed a partnership with Russell Simmons’ Global Grind can you talk about that a little bit?
A. Every month we now have a column on Global Grind that is called Official Hotness, which is basically everything that is hot. We really look up to Russell for using his success to give back because he contributes to so many organizations. It is rare to find people with the same passion as we have, so we felt a strong connection with him. Again it is always great when you can find people using their success to help others.

Q. What has it been like for you to be touring?
A. It has been fantastic. The shows at the Playboy Mansion was very interesting and probably our favorite. We also played with the Bangles in Florida and that was amazing. It was so cool to share the stage with them and learn how to walk like Egyptian. That pairing came about because The Bangles tour manager got in touch with us. It was a very girl power experience to say the least.

Q. Can you tell me a little bit about your docu-reality show that you are working on?
A. We are so excited about it. The reality show is basically the chance to take all of our fans behind the scenes of our music and personal lives as well. It is not your typical train wreck reality show. It is going to be real and fun. There is a network that is on board but we are not allowed to talk about it yet. We have already started shooting and hopefully if all goes well it will premiere this fall. We decided to do the show after we were approached by a company that asked us to do one but that particular company didn’t want to go in the right direction we were looking for. Lucky for us we found another company with the same out look and vision we had. It is really important that our fans get to know us better and to give them the opportunity to have better connection with us. Plus it also helps us make better connections with in the industry as well.

Q. You guys have a lot of irons in the fire right now but what is next for you?
A. Soon we will be starting a radio tour with acoustic sets. We are hoping to get to meet fans during the tour because it is so important for us to connect with our fans so that we can continue to make music they can relate to and of course love. We are currently shooting a feature film that is loosely based around Official Hot Mess but is about other things too. That is all we can say about that for now.

Q. What else do you want our readers to know about Official Hot Mess?
A. We would like people to please keep checking our Facebook and MySpace pages, also follow us on Twitter. Also we have gotten great support from MTV & Clear Channel radio, which have each had our back and are very encouraging, so we wanted to give them a shout out.

There you have it my friends the Official Hot Mess interview with Lindsey and Kristy from the group. The girls were a joy to talk to and I cannot wait to see what they do next. I tell you what these super enthusiastic young ladies and their four boys are going to be stars so make sure you keep your eye on them.
