This fad apparently promises no starving or tedious calorie counting. For that reason some celebrities and other Americans are looking into the Dukan diet. However, as with many of these new plans, there is a lot of criticism.
Basically it looks like a little different version of the Atkins diet. Dr. Pierre Dukan wrote a book and his French diet it very popular among people in foreign countries. We have already seem some American celebrities use it, and now they want to promote it to everyone.
It is somewhat similar to other diets out there, and to me it seems like the next fad and it doesn’t sound like a great idea to me. The program is broken into weekly restrictions and people are to maintain a high protein and low fat regimen. It does prohibit all fruit and some vegetables and some feel it just doesn’t make enough sense.
“The Dukan Diet is not based on any scientific data, and seems to be a modified version of the Atkins Diet,” Tanya Zuckerbort, a Fox News contributor said. “This diet is protein-centric and highly restrictive in the initial stages, without much research to back it up.”
Unfortunately, things don’t have to be completely proven or safe for people to try them. It promises to give quick results without a lot of work. For this reason people, including future princess Kate Middleton and Jennifer Lopez, have been swearing by the diet.
Next month the American edition will be available, and you can look at it for yourself. I personally stand by the belief that any healthy weight loss is not quick and definitely not easy. However, for long term results and general well being cutting calories and getting exercise is the key.
