Scandal has hit Harrison, New York, leaving many of their residents shaking their heads in disbelief. At the center of the alleged wrongdoing is 90-year-old Florence D’Imperio, who once was named Citizen of the Year by the mayor of this small town. Find out what she and five others are accused of doing below.

When you think of a 90-year-old volunteering at a local food bank, don’t you feel like you should be doing something to help your community as well, I mean, really, if an elderly woman can do it, so can you, right?

Unfortunately, the woman I’m talking about, Florence D’Imperio, has been arrested for allegedly stealing food and clothes from the Harrison Food Bank. She wasn’t alone, though. Get this, her own son, William D’Imperio, 59, who works as a foreman for the Harrison Department of Public Works, was arrested as well. Additionally, four other city workers (Adam Starface, Sherryl Toplyn, Joseph Arcara Jr and Jack Arcara), who allegedly were involved in the scandal were arrested too.

It’s hard for me to believe that this 90-year-old woman is involved in this crime, especially after being named Citizen of the Year and inducted into the Westchester County Senior Citizens Hall of Fame. Ms. D’Imperio was in charge of the Meals on Wheels program for Harrison, and it seems more appropriate that she be part of the Hall of Shame now, eh?

Police weren’t so quick to believe it either, which is why they set up a surveillance two months ago to find out what was going on. Sure enough, their suspicions were confirmed, and all six of the accused turned themselves in on February 14 and 15. Their charges? According to LoHud.com, they were all charged with petty larceny, the elder D’Imperio with eight counts, her son charged with two counts, Joseph Arcara Jr, six counts, Jack Arcara and Toplyn with five counts and Arcara Jr with one count. Petty larceny is a misdemeanor and if found guilty, one could see some jail time – up to a year. They all have been suspended from their city jobs without pay and are scheduled to appear in court on March 1st.

What do you think, folks? Will Florence D’Imperio find herself in the slammer? To go from Citizen of the Year to allegedly stealing from the town Food Bank is abominable to say the least. If you do the crime, you most certainly will do the time. Check out her mugshot photo plus a related video below.
