Baby Named Facebook Jamal Ibrahim

February 21, 2011

Boy have I got quite the unique name for you, Facebook Jamal Ibrahim. Oh yes you read it correctly the little girl is named after the social networking site and there is much more on this crazy story.

How would you like to grow up with the name Facebook Jamal Ibrahim? Well an Egyptian man named his baby daughter that and she will be called that for the rest of her life. I have heard some pretty out there names for kids but seriously to be named after a social network site, wtf.

According to ABC news the baby’s father said the reasoning behind the rather different moniker was simply because he wanted a name that would commemorate the January 25th revolution in Egypt. He decided to do that by giving his first child a unique moniker. Since the famous social media site played an important part in the protests he chose that one. In case you were unaware FB played a very big role in organizing the protests in Tahrir Square, which I will say is pretty cool and amazing what the website did to help.

I completely understand the father wanting to do something to honor everything that has occurred in the last few weeks in his country and the victorious outcome it brought about. I have so much respect for that, however couldn’t he have come up with something a little better than a social networking site’s name. I just feel so bad for this little girl who will be called that and probably a lot worse thanks to her moniker, forever.

I am not kidding when I say there is a baby named Facebook Jamal Ibrahim, a girl no less. I certainly hope this doesn’t turn out to be some sort of naming trend. Can you imagine a bunch FB’s, Twitter and MySpace little kids running around? It may be a crazy name but congrats to the family on their new addition, I bet she is just as cute as the little girl in the above photo.
