Livia Giuggioli is Colin Firth’s Wife

January 22, 2011

Colin Firth’s wife seemed to be the most popular woman on the Hollywood Walk of Fame this week as her husband received his Hollywood Star. The 50-year-old actor honored Livia Giuggioli and dedicated the award to her during his acceptance speech. Get the full story with pictures and video below!

Already winning a Golden Globe for his role in The King’s Speech, Firth is whispered to be a front-runner for the Oscars this year. If he wins it will be his first recognition by the Oscar committee.

Livia Giuggioli married the actor in 1997 and the couple have two children, ages 10 and 8, together. The actor’s well earned Hollywood Star was placed adjacent to close friend Emma Thompson just outside the Pig ‘N Whistle pub on Hollywood Boulevard. But Colin Firth’s wife was all he could talk about in his acceptance speech.

“I want to thank everybody that has accompanied me on this extraordinary journey, but probably more than anybody I could ever imagine – Livia, who has walked every step of this with me joyfully and truthfully. When I look down there at the star, it’s her name I see.”

The 50-year-old actor’s newest role as King George VI suited the actor to a tee. Often playing the stoic Englishman in his movies, the role as the quiet king attempting to overcome a speech impediment seemed tailored for him.

“The drama of it all was fascinating to me. At the beginning of the war, the King’s people needed to hear him, to be reassured by him. Hitler and Mussolini were such compelling speakers.”

Do you think the English actor should take the Oscar for his role in The King’s Speech this year? What do you think of Colin Firth’s Wife, the sometimes eccentric Livia Giuggioli? Let me know your thoughts in the comment section after you check out pictures and video below!

Livia Giuggioli is a really solid woman. A woman of charm, class and style and a dedicated mother of two boys. She is a Ph. D and is concerned about the environment as well as the humanity. Colin firth is a lucky man to have such a beautiful and solid woman as his partner. I respect her for her values and honesty. I as a woman of similar background, strong family values and who values education and family, can understand her totally. I think Colin should rejoice in having found a partner as solid and honest and humanitarian as him without any hang ups. Lead us through all your examples Livia and Colin!!!

Livia is lovely. A great support to her husband. Sometimes I feel it must be very hard for her being married to a man who is so admired by so many women. But she handles it well. Has a good sense of fashion although she sometimes does seem a little eccentric.

Livia is in no way eccentric. She is such a lovely human being. Her smile is so lovely and innocent. She is so down to earth and solid. She is just unshakable and grounded. I wish you all the luck, Livia and I know how lucky Colin Firth is to have a partner like you and I know he knows it very deeply.
