The actor has had a very tough week! Not only did his mother’s house catch fire Sunday night, but now Bradley Cooper’s dad has passed away. Be sure to check out pictures and videos below.

Such sad news. Bradley, who was very close to his father, has now lost him to an illness he reportedly fought for a long time. Charles Cooper, a stockbroker for Merrill Lynch, died at the age of 71. Cooper’s beautiful girlfriend, Renee Zellweger, was to attend the Golden Globe Awards but instead, opted out to be with her boyfriend at this time in need.

His untimely death comes shortly after a fire broke out at Bradley’s mom’s Pennsylvania home that he tended to. Fortunately, officials say, “It was not a very major fire. We didn’t have to use hoses. It was out within a few minutes. Pretty much the fireplace got a little out of control. No one was hurt. No one was transported to the hospital.”

In an interview with David Letterman, Bradley explains his father’s cameo on The A-team film being “one of the best experiences of my life. The guy loves to improvise — I had to calm him down!” Such fond memories.

So far, there are no details regarding Charles’ funeral arrangements but it is believed that they will be kept private.
