Congratulations to Miss Nebraska! The blonde beauty reigned victorious tonight in Las Vegas. We have all the information you want to know about Teresa here!
Can you believe that she is only 17 years old? Teresa, whose name is often misspelled as Theresa Scanlan, becomes the youngest winner of the title since the very first pageant – dating back to 1921, when the District of Columbia’s Margaret Gorman was crowned the winner at the age of 15. First of all, the poise, grace and confidence that Scanlan showed throughout the competition makes it hard for one to believe that she is just a teenager and not even of legal voting age.
A $50,000 scholarship is now hers and she has plans to attend Patrick Henry College this fall. Hmmm. She may have to put college studies off for a bit, eh? First runner up went to Miss Arkansas, Alyse Eady.
This was the 90th anniversary of the pageant, where we saw several previous winners over the years featured during the show. What a sight that was to see!!
So what do we know of this newly crowned beauty queen? Like I said, she is 17 years of age and hails from Gering, Nebraska, a small town in the western part of the state whose population in 2000 was less than 10,000. She attended Scottsbluff High School (there are conflicting reports as to whether she has already graduated or is still attending) and does plan to go to college, hopes to become a lawyer and later delve into politics. Her platform during her stint as Miss America? Eating Disorders and raising awareness to the disease.
We here at Right Celebrity congratulate you, Teresa Scanlan!! I want to know if you watched the show tonight, and if so, do you agree with the judges on their choice for Miss America 2011? Winner, in my book for sure!!
Don’t forget to check out several pictures and a video of Ms. Scanlan below. Enjoy!
