According to reports, John Dye’s cause of death has not yet been confirmed, however, it is believed that the Touched By An Angel star possibly suffered a heart attack, resulting in his death. An autopsy was conducted on Tuesday, pending toxicology test results which may take up to three to four weeks to obtain.

Although, family members have suggested heart failure, what is it exactly? Heart failure is “a chronic condition in which the heart can no longer pump enough blood to the rest of the body. As the heart’s pumping ability declines, blood can back up in other areas of the body, damaging organs and causing fluid buildup in the lungs, gastrointestinal tract, and the arms and legs. Heart failure often develops gradually in the aftermath of a heart attack, though it can also come on suddenly – sometimes the result of an infection.”

While family, friends, and fans mourn the death of John, his co-star from Touched By An Angel, Valerie Bertinelli, tweeted the following goodbye on her Twitter:

“Dear, sweet John Dye, rest in peace.”

Some of Dye’s work include tv appearances including: Murder She Wrote, Promised Land, The Young and the Restless.

John Dye was one of the nicest guys I had the good fortune to briefly know. He dated one of my girlfriends in HS and was ALWAYS a gentleman ! I saw him a few years later on the set of Campus Man when I was a student at ASU and he made me feel like a special friend from his hometown in front of the other actors. My heart goes out to his family and friends who were priviledged to know him ! Cean Hollis Smith
